Abigail :: Newborn Portraits

Abigail Elizabeth Perrett, born on April 24th at 10:10am, 3.6kg and 51cm – with a mass of bleach-blond hair that would be the envy of most women.  What a perfect little doll.

I really adored the long cuddles I received, as she graciously allowed me to pose her in various places and positions.  What made this even more special was I was using this hat box for the first time, having just been given it by my mother-in-law, which was her Aunty Lucy’s.  So to Abigail, this was her Great Great Aunty Lucy’s.  Words can’t express how much I treasure these images, and the blessing it is to have captured them.

Congratulations Lara, Hugh and Levi on a gorgeous little angel, and thank you.

Bailey :: Newborn Portraits

I was assisting Dave at a stunning wedding recently when I heard the minister had just had a baby boy.  I chased him to find his wife and less-than-week-old son asleep in a pram.   I gooed and gahed over him, secretly wishing I could photograph him.  So I was soooo happy when Sally later contacted me to invite me to do newborn portraits – yippee!

The day of the shoot was pouring with rain.  I took the wrong exit on the motorway just because I was daydreaming.  I buzzed at the wrong apartment, then carried several bags through the rain and down the steps to the right apartment, where thankfully Sam took over and carried the gear up the floor flights of stairs. Ah, the joys of the job.

And there we were.  A beautiful apartment, a gorgeous baby boy, two adorable parents.  Ah yes, the joys of the job.

Well done guys.  Despite the sleepless nights and moments of frustration, this little blessing with expand your hearts in ways you had never dreamed.  Thanks for letting me glimpse a little part of such a special time.

Easter bunnies

I love these guys.  They are the most beautiful family.  Charlie is Ella’s age, and I’m excited that they’re going to be starting at the same big school next year.  Elijah is Adia’s age, and Dave did Tiff’s preggie shots with Elijah because I was too massive with Adia being nearly due.  He only just managed to get them done – Elijah decided to make his arrival that evening!

This time they’re on their own – we’ve stopped at 2!  Can’t wait to meet the latest little edition to their family whenever the big day comes.

Pregnancy is an incredible time – a new life is being formed inside a mother’s body, the intricate details of which are astounding.  Nothing short of miraculous.  And yet, apart from the initiation of the process, we have such little control over what is happening, we just wait and hope and pray and look forward to the day we get to meet the little one.

I’m the youngest of three girls.  So I can only wonder what it feels like to watch mummy’s tummy growing bigger, to be told I can no longer jump on mummy whenever I want.  To not be able to hug her quite so close, to look forward to the baby coming but be nervous about whether mummy will still have enough cuddles for me.

Lara and Hugh, thanks for letting me be involved in this special time in your lives.  Levi, big changes are coming but you will always be mummy’s special little boy, and you’ll make a great big brother.  Your little sister is going to love you.

Studious :: Ells & Ace

Came home with the girls today to find the white seamless still set up in the living room after a shoot Dave was doing today.  Ace grabbed an apple and went off munching it while Ells picked up Dave’s glasses … and I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots while Dave cooked dinner.  Love my family of smarty-pantses!

Scott & Ursula

To say I was really looking forward to photographing Scott and Ursula’s wedding would be a bit of an understatement. We had an amazing Engagement Session, so amazing in fact that the photos ended up in a magazine distributed nationally, and they’re such beautiful people, to know and to look at – I just knew it was going to be an extra special day.

Their wedding ceremony was at the gorgeous little Hillsong Chapel in Baulkham Hills, and with so many family taking pictures, along with a crew of 3 videographers, I was really grateful that Naomi was able to make it to the ceremony at the last minute to grab a camera and get some alternate angles… it was a tight fit in there!

James :: Newborn Portraits

James is a real sweetie.  7 weeks old, with those cute little snuffles and clumsy movements and those heart-melting first smiles.  The hardest thing was getting him to look away from his daddy.  A gorgeous nursery, beautiful natural sunlight streaming in.  Such a joy.

I’ve spent more time looking at this little precious bundle than my own two angels these last couple of days … time to log off and give them a cuddle (while they sleep, so they can’t get away).

Thanks so much Amy, for purchasing the gift voucher that allowed me to meet this wonderful family.

What a beautiful way to spend a Sunday morning: meeting a precious newborn Chloé Josée and her big sister Méa.  Everyone was busy preparing for Chloé’s Christening later that morning, so it felt almost like witnessing the bride’s preparations on a wedding day … especially when little Méa changed into her pretty dress with her mummy.

Thank you, Julie and Duncan, for inviting me to take part in such a special time.
